Yesterday the weather was absolutely gorgeous out. My mom(Grammy) is here visiting, so we decided to take a day trip over to the Springfield Zoo.
We drove over during Abigail’s nap time, so she slept the whole way. When she woke up she was still a little groggy and wasn’t overly impressed with any of the animals. We were worried that maybe the zoo was a bad idea, but it quickly turned around and was a BLAST.
We had SO much fun. Abigail got to do a few things that she really loved and I can’t wait to go back sometime and bring Dada with us!
At the beginning of the zoo, I was worried it was going to be a little lame. There weren’t tons of animals at the beginning, but the further we got in, the bigger I realized the zoo was.
They had all sorts of geese, hens, and peacocks wandering around out in the open. It was so cool!
Also, being there on a Wednesday, in the middle of the day = the place was quiet, peaceful, and not busy at all. Perfect.
Things really picked up when we stopped to feed the ducks, swans, and fish. She loved, loved, loved feeding them. She kept asking “mo! mo!”
Y’all. These are something out of a nightmare. I hate these fish so much. They are horrifying.
I sure love that little girl!
We stopped for a mid-zoo treat. Mama got some water and Grammy and Abigail shared an ice cream sandwich while we watched the elephants. They were some of the animals Abigail enjoyed the most.
MY favorite part of the zoo were the giraffes, which Abigail certainly loved too! They had this awesome lookout area where you can see the giraffes SO close(as you can tell by my pictures). They also have an area where you can buy crackers and then feed the giraffes yourself. ALSO, there was a baby giraffe that had been born 2 days before. So sweet!
Abigail absolutely adored feeding the giraffes. She was asking for, “mo! mo! mo!” just like with the fish and swans.
I fed a giraffe who patiently waited for me to give him his cracker and very delicately took it from me. Mom and Abigail had a more exciteable giraffe who was licking them to death trying to get his crackers as quickly as possible!
Abigail’s absolute favorite part of the zoo though, was getting to ride the train. She was seriously, so, so excited. She loved it the whole time. The entire ride she was shouting “choo choo!!! choo choo!!!”
After we rode the train we walked to the exit and stopped by the gift shop. I almost don’t want to list what she came home with because the amount this little girl is spoiled is almost shameful! But, here we are. She made out with zebra sunglasses, a book about a zookeeper, a giraffe bubble necklace, a stuffed elephant, and a stuffed monkey in a purse.
I should have taken a picture of her in her car seat because she had a death grip on every single one of her items the entire way home, all while wearing her new shades of course.
And just because there weren’t enough pictures in this post, a little more cuteness to close it out.
