Let me just start by saying this. Arizona in November is WAY different than Arizona in July. The last time we were here it was Thanksgiving. I totally bought into the dry heat thing. It was in the 80’s and glorious and beautiful and “oh, it’s such a dry heat here!”
But July?? In monsoon season??
Yeah, dry heat my back side.
DRY HEAT IS A LIE.
We went to the zoo.
And I almost died.
It was so freaking, ridiculously hot, I can’t even describe.
I mean, I’ll be honest. I’m a bit(a lot) of a delicate flower when it comes to the great outdoors anyway, but it was so hot that I jumped into a kiddie splash pad with ALL of my clothes on while my actual kid was busy riding a merry go round.
Let me add a bit more.
I got ridiculously sunburned on Wednesday. If you didn’t notice in my WW train post how red my legs were, well, lemme tell ya. They were RED. And then they were peeling. And somehow the heat, literally, I am not even exaggerating, melded my pants to my skin. I have video evidence of this, that I will spare you from. Then, after I got wet in the splash pad and it dried? I could hardly walk.
I had to get into the shower with my pants ON to be able to get them off.
So, with that beautiful and completely TMI intro, look at the cool pictures I took!
They fed giraffes! It was awesome!
I mean. I assume it was awesome. I just took pictures. I didn’t want to be slurped by those tongues.
I’m so in love with this picture.
She was so cute with this monkey.
They totally loved each other.
We rode the tram all over the zoo so that we didn’t have to walk it, but we could still see and enjoy all of the animals.
Just as we drove past the elephant she was going inside her little(big?) house. The driver mentioned that she gets a pedicure once a week and now Abigail is totally hooked on that. She talks all the time about how the elephant has purple toenails from her pedicure. (A female elephant would totally choose purple for her toenails if given the option, no?)
She also rode the merry go round 5 times. This one was a much better speed than the one at the train station so she was up for continuous riding.
After stopping for kettle corn, giant bottles of water, and lunch on the way home. Abigail promptly went to sleep and I submerged myself in a cold pool for the next 4 hours.
