Last Friday we were invited to a friend’s home to watch the Olympic opening ceremonies. It was a really fun party idea and it was a great opportunity to talk to Abigail about the games. What they are, what sports would be played, and where the games were held this year. Russia, obviously.
We were supposed to bring a snack food, so naturally, I opened up Pinterest and typed in “Olympic snack foods” Result number one? Russian Tea Cakes. Ingredients? Had them all in my cabinet. SOLD.
So, we talked about Russia and put the Fiddler On The Roof soundtrack on and made Russian tea cakes together. {powdered sugar is like the glitter of baking. EVERYWHERE. Everywhere, people}
Abigail kept saying excitedly, “We are listening to Russia music!”
PS. How cute are these drinks?? She said they were made with cranberry juice, sprite, and powerade. Yummy, perfect for the Olympics AND the 4th of July!
We painted our fingernails gold and talked about the different medals and what places they represent.
Before bed the other night she was chanting, “Go for the gold! Annnd the gray! And the other one!”
This was after I’d already informed her that the saying isn’t “win for the gold”
We had a really fun time at our party, it was the latest she has ever gotten to stay up for something that wasn’t travel related, and we have really enjoyed watching the games together on our couch at home. She is quite impressed by the skiers flying through the air.

Word. I basically lived in a bland, boring, and vanilla world where there were no crafts to be made, no songs to be sung, and no ridiculously overpriced shoes to envy.
How fun is this? Love that she did it with you & those drinks!! What would we do without Pinterest?!
