If you remember, around this time last year I was busy throwing a super fun “Baby, It’s Cold Outside” baby shower for my very best friend, Lauren. This weekend? We got to go celebrate Miss Brecken’s first birthday! I mentioned to Abigail a few weeks ago(read: way WAY too far in advance) that we would be going to Kansas City for the day to party and she was so excited she couldn’t hardly stand it.
The theme for Brecken’s party was “Balloons”. It was simple and sweet and just perfect. Snacks, cake, ice cream, presents, and lots of visiting and playing. Just how I like my parties 🙂
Brecken’s daddy is a high school teacher and one of his students made this ridiculously amazing cake. I mean, really, is that thing not totally Pinterest worthy!? Bonus: It tasted just as good as it looked.
This sweet girl was such a champ her entire party. Hamming it up with everyone, posing for pictures, eating her cake, and opening her gifts.
I’ve mentioned this before, but Lauren and I have been best friends since 3rd grade. I moved across the street from her house the summer before 3rd grade started. I only had one brother, she had three. We needed each other and have been each others sister ever since. Now I can’t believe that we have THREE little girls of our own, and who knows how many future additions to grow and raise together. It’s been the most amazing thing ever to enter into mamahood with your best friend. And getting to watch our girls play together? Well, that’s just postively mindblowing.
Abigail rode like this the entire 1.5 hour car ride home. Those balloons weren’t goin anywhere!!
It was such a fun party, it met all of Abigail’s expectations(minus the car ride, “We’ve been driving ALL MORNING LONG”), and it’s always so much fun to get to visit in person with our BFF’s.
Happy Birthday, Brecken Marie!

I love the simple theme, as well – sometimes these birthday themes go a little bananas! Also, the tutu?! Just gorgeous!
Love that cake! I saw your IG post and had to do a double take, because a friend from grade school also has a daughter named Brecken Marie, and I think her birthday is today! 🙂
