When you have a 4.5 year age gap between your babies, it really gives companies time to come out with some really awesome new products that you never had the first go round.
With about 10 weeks to go until my due date, I’m just now starting to acquire the things that I hope to use with Miss Mabel. There are a few absolute necessities that I know I will use again(a post about that to come soon!) but this post is about the things that I never got to use with Abigail and am excited to (maybe) get to try with her little sister!
White Noise Machine | 4 year old running around the house making noise? I think a machine to help drown that out can only be a good thing, am I right? My Mother In Law uses this particular machine and really likes it!
Solly Baby Wrap | I never baby wore with Abigail. Of course, her being my first, I just held her all of the time. I know this time around I will need to have my hands free at least some of the time and I’m really super excited to try babywearing! I already have the Solly in Castlerock(snagged during her black Friday sale before we knew whether it was a he or she) but I’m loving the girliness of the pretty purple Orchid color!
Also, they came out with Solly Dolly Wraps and I’m thinking Abigail absolutely needs one as a big sister gift so we can be matching 🙂
Swaddlers | We swaddled Abigail all of the time but only in blankets and then eventually moved on to sleep sacks. The lure of the easy velcro and cute burritoness of the swaddlers has me wanting to stick Mabes in a few!
Ergo | The ideal time for the Solly is from birth-6 months. It says it can go to a year but if Mabel is a fatty like Abigail was she’ll be tapped out by 6 for sure. This carrier seems like it will be a great option for after she outgrows her Solly. I’ve heard great things, but once again, I’m still new to baby wearing!
Boon Suds Bottle Washer | This is a product I actually already have! Boon contacted me a few weeks ago and asked if I would be willing to put together a review of their new bottle washer. I told them that I would love to, but that I am actually not washing any bottles(yet!). I told them a little bit about our story and they so, so sweetly sent Mabel some bottles, sippy cups, a boon patch drying rack, and the Suds Bottle Washer to use once she gets here. I absolutely ADORE the Boon company and their products and this only confirmed it! I can’t wait to use this handy little utensil to make bottle washing easier…..for Jim 😉
Rock N Play | We don’t have our pack n play anymore, which is what Abigail slept in in our room for about her first 5ish months of life. I’ve only heard rave reviews about the wonder and magic of the RNP so I think this will be an awesome substitute for not having the pack n play anymore. Of course, we’ll be getting it in a super girly pink pattern because we’re SO not doing the gender neutral thing this time around! Bring on all the pink and purple, please.
Video Monitor | We just used a regular Sony baby monitor for Abigail. It got the job done but it was pretty bare bones. It also was only for audio and I can’t tell you how many times I ruined a chance at her going back to sleep by walking into her room when I heard her instead of knowing that she was just going back to sleep(even once is too many times in my humble opinion!!) so I would love to have a video monitor to spy on the little chica to make sure that she is actually ready to get up and/or finally asleep. Plus, who doesn’t love watching their kids sleep? We all do.
Okay Mama’s! Weigh in and help me out! What other new products have come out since 2010 that I need to know about and have ready for Miss Mabel? Tell me your favorites in the comments!
