We brought waters, a flashlight, and my phone. We had changed into pants and put on socks and shoes and were committed to hanging out down there until Jim could get home…..
because we literally couldn’t get back out.
I hardly fit down inside the space. In fact. I think it was pure adrenaline that got me down there in the first place. I had to close the crawl space door on me as I was sliding in just to be able to fit. Then we had to squat down in the wet and gravel on a tiny piece of cement for oh….an hour or so.
Abigail texted grandparents and we watched some Tinkerbell on Netflix and made a grand old time of it.
She told me, “Hey Mom, I feel really safe under the house, but BOY are the bottom of my pants dirty!”
As you can see by my filth all over my clothes, she wasn’t lyin. Also, snaps for Courtney for fitting down in that tiny hole!
Long story long, Jim finally made it home once the storm let up a smidge and was able to lift my butt and legs and shove me out of the crawl space opening. It was way easier to get out than it was to get in, which was a miracle! And then Abigail and I promptly got into the shower to wash off all the crawl space nasties.
And since Mabel, Abigail, and I made it through our first crawl space encounter, I thought I should document it like a good little blogger :p
Do you experience severe weather where you live? Where do you go during a storm?
