Abigail and her art skills have taken a HUGE leap recently. I’ve mentioned before that she is SO not into crafts and even when it comes to coloring she typically would just scribble all over the page and call it a day. Then one day, she just started drawing. Actual pictures. And coloring inside the lines. And making real, beautiful art! I took a picture of this particular one because she told me it was Snoopy and Charlie Brown and I was just super impressed with it!
We’ve made some trips to the mall(and obviously lots of trips to the bathroom while we’re there) for various things. Fresh air, play ground, chick fil a, etc. We have a good time together!
We stopped at an outdoor antique sale and Abigail discovered this awesome vehicle. We passed that day, but I think maybe someday soon Abigail needs some wheels of her own. Those cars are awesome.
We also found the $10 side table for Mabel’s room that day, so it was a big win.
Sometimes we deem it a “special morning” and drive the 25 minutes to Chick Fil A in our pajamas and then have a breakfast car picnic. She thinks it is SO awesome and let’s be honest, so do I.
Isn’t she the best little model for our new to us wheels?
We had absolutely beautiful weather for Joplin’s Third Thursday in April! We walked around and looked at art, listened to music, grabbed coffee from a local coffee shop, and just enjoyed the fountains and the lovely evening together.
Oh yes, and we also waited in line for a FREE bounce house to play in. She was thrilled.
One of the things we’ve done recently in preparation for little sister’s arrival is getting caught up on our overdue checkups. We both had a dentist appointment recently and Abigail did so awesome I couldn’t believe it.
Her last check up was well over a year and a half ago and it was just a preliminary “happy visit” where they just looked in her mouth and talked to her about coming to the dentist. This time? She got xrays and an actual cleaning. They did those awful bite wings things that even I gag over and hate and she endured it like an absolute champ.
It was also really awesome to get to see her xrays. Her 12 year molars are already forming and we could see all of her big girl teeth ready and waiting to make their appearance in a few years. Crazy!
While I was having my cleaning done The Little Mermaid came on the Disney channel so she sat happily and watched that during my turn. It was perfect.
So we celebrated with Sonic slushes.
Most of my pregnancy Abigail really hasn’t been into my belly. Like, she’ll touch it if I tell her that Mabel is moving, but she just kind of ignores it. Which is fine. But recently she’s been giving her TONS of kisses and pats and she’ll say things like, “Hi Mabel! Kick Mabel! It’s me! Abigail, your big sister!” and I’m totally positive that Mabel will know her and her voice when she gets here.
Mainly because I think high and shrill voices carry through fluid better so if there is one voice that she’ll recognize, it will be her big sister’s :p
She likes to get her own breakfast and snacks(with my permission). So she grabs her green stool, drags it over, and then eats up on the counter after she has assembled her plate. I always verify what she is trying to eat before she eats it, but the combinations of things she comes up with are usually pretty great.
The same week as the dentist I also took Abigail for her 4 year check up. It was entirely uneventful, just how I like my Dr.’s appointments! She was in the 93% for height and the 70% for her weight. She also got 3 shots and was a TOTAL champ. She watched, didn’t flinch, didn’t cry, and claims that they didn’t even hurt at all. Jim and I had planned to take her out to lunch afterwards because, THREE SHOTS IN THE THIGHS, and she loved that. CFA lemonade and a midday visit with Daddy? Basically the best thing ever.
And that’s a little recap of some of what we’ve been up to lately!
