We’ve all had it happen. The text or call that says someone will be stopping by your home in just a few minutes and you realize that your home looks like a bomb went off inside of it (Just me? I didn’t think so). Now, typically, I’m all for live and let live, be free in your own home, hakuna matata, and so on and so forth. But I won’t lie and say that I want to have a messy house when someone comes over. So, I’ve developed a fairly effective system at hiding and tidying my messes in a few minutes before someone arrives and I’m going to share them with you, right now!
Have storage for all of your things
I have a coffee table that can be opened up and has a surprising amount of storage inside, anything in the living room area can be put in there. We keep a cube organizer and a big toy box in the girls rooms so that toys can be tossed in quickly. Our desk has big cabinets available to store papers, loose odds and ends, and those persistent cords that show up all around the house and belong to various electronic items. Everything does have a place, it just occasionally needs to be put back where it goes- having a quick and efficient system for that does wonders!
Use a Multi Surface Cleaner
One of my biggest time savers is to use one cleaning product for all of the surfaces in my living area. Pledge Multi Surface leaves all of my furniture radiant, gleaming, and clean. With the added Glade fragrance, my home instantly smells clean too! It can be used on wood, glass, stainless steel, electronics, and more! I can clean my entertainment center and tv, hutch, kitchen counters, and kitchen table, all with the same product at the same time.
Have a room that the door can be closed and everything within it- hidden
When you have a home with an open floor plan like ours, it is vital to have at least one place you can toss some things in if you’re in a hurry and shut the door behind you! Master bedroom on the other side of the house? Heard.
What are your tips for cleaning up your home quickly?
