June 30, 2015
Monday, June 22nd was my very first solo day with the girls. After a month long stay from my Mama and then a weekend beyond that with Jim, last Monday was my first opportunity to man the ship all by myself.
To be honest, I was a *little* worried about how tired I might be, since little miss is still eating around the clock through the night, but really, I was mostly excited about getting into our new routine, to do things myself, and to get back to “normal” a bit more. And you know what? We had a great, great day.
Our day started at 7:45, when Jim left for work. We hung out in my room for a bit, while I nursed Mabel and held her while she slept and Abigail watched some shows on my iPad. A little while later we got up and headed into the kitchen for breakfast.
I managed to make myself a latte and we then hung out in Mabel’s room/playroom as Abigail played barbies and all sorts of fun stuff.
As the day progressed and continued to heat up outside, Abigail put on her suit and went out to play in the hose(one of her favorite summer things to do). Miss Mabel hung out in her RNP in the garage while sister watered the plants, sprayed herself, and played with chalk.
Speaking of the Rock N Play, it has seriously been my sanity saver. Mabel loves it, I can carry it all around the house(or outside) and it quickly frees up my hands to do other things but still keeps her a part of what is going on. (I’m currently writing this blog post thanks to the RNP!)
After we played for a while, it was time to come inside for lunch and naps!
Abigail rested in her room, Mabel rested in my arms- because newborn snuggles and naps are the best, obviously. And after that, it was only a couple of hours before Daddy got home from work!
I snapped this picture as I was fixing dinner once Jim got home. I’m not sure who put who to sleep but I can never resist a double sleeping photo, haha!
We had breakfast for dinner, played more, doled out double baths, and got everyone to bed right on time.
I know that not every day will be as laid back and wonderful, but to start out my adventure as a Mama of two, it was just what I needed to boost my confidence and feel like I can do this! 🙂
