There used to be this link up that I was a part of for a long time called “InstaFriday”. I don’t think it exists anymore? (If it does, feel free to let me know!) But it was great because it offered a chance to share more of the stories behind our quick little Instagram squares and short witty quips. I love sharing a small moment of my day on social media, but I also really love writing out the full stories of what is going on here on my blog too.
So, here you have it. The long version of some of my recent Instagram photos.
The Target Three to Five Dollar Spot. I call it the “dollar” spot because basically nothing here costs a dollar anymore. It still lures you in anyway and Moms aren’t the only ones who get sucked in like a Galaga style tractor beam. It works on five year old’s too.
Also, she asked me to take a picture of her holding every single color of these squishy things.
I took this picture and I remember captioning it something along the lines of it being a really good day with her.
Because lets be honest, a lot of days, she drives me up the wall. I remember texting my Mom recently and asking her if she ever didn’t like me. And she just laughed and laughed at me. Because really. I’m pretty sure I pulled a wiry gray out of my temple the other day and I lay it solely at the feet of this little girl.
But lately, I don’t know, something is just clicking with us. We’re in this really great groove that is smooth and sweet and so happy. She is cheerful and helpful and I can’t get enough of her. I want to just snuggle her up all of the time and can’t stop telling her how much I love her, because she is really great.
And looking at this picture I just want to remember that.
Some people have offices. Some people go to coffee shops. Me? I sit in my iconic Ikea yellow chair in my living room with my laptop and crank out everything you ever read here. It is my nap time happy place and basically every day from 1-3ish you can find me there.
Back when I was pregnant with Mabel and still puking my brains out, one of the only foods that sounded remotely decent was Chick Fil A. Now, of course I couldn’t actually enter the restaurant without getting sick, so the car picnic was born. And a few times a week, Abigail and I would venture out in our pajama’s, drive thru, and then eat in the car.
It is something that she has always thought was really awesome, so she will occasionally request car picnics still to this day.
I used to eat a gravy biscuit- and let me tell ya, that was SOLELY a weird pregnancy food because it is not good anymore. Spicy biscuit for me, chicken mini’s with grape jelly for her, and splitting a side of hash browns. It’s pretty sweet and I love that it is something so simple but really special for her.
Also ignore how dirty my van seats are. Kay, thanks.
Our mall fairly recently added a little play area for the kids. It is so great to have an indoor place nearby to go burn some energy in! And it is really fun that Mabel is finally getting big enough to start getting in on the play place action. I know some majorly fun days are ahead of us with these two girlies!
Just riding together in the “cool seated” Target carts. Mabel kind of looks like she’s holding on for dear life but she was actually straight up chillin.
We hadn’t been to Aldi in FOREVER and since the last time we were there they have seriously UPPED their game. They have the double seated carts?! They accept credit cards?! Anyway, it was a good trip that saved me tons of money as always.
I haven’t been in a long time because I can’t always get everything on my list at Aldi and I hate having to make two trips to get groceries. But, I just might have to for them. Because they’re that awesome.
The other morning Abigail made a tent out of Mabel’s bedroom curtain and crib, put together a latte party on the floor, and they played for a great amount of time. It was the sweetest thing. Really.
Might have teared up watching it.
So yeah, Mabel isn’t exactly “crawling” but she has figured out a pretty great scoot and slide on the wood floors system and little miss is getting FAST.
Just like Celine it is ALL coming back to me now and I’m suddenly thinking of all of the things that I need to baby proof and all of the floors that I need to clean and all of the other things that come with having a mobile baby.
I’m also going to need to stock up on some more Mommy Juice because after a day of constantly listening to “No, No Mabel!” as she barely touches her things…..I’m going to need some serenity now. I should also probably call my brother and apologize for being a quintessential older sibling…like now.
