I know I can’t be the only person who is completely bewildered by the fact that July is on Friday? Because, what?? Summer has been a total whirlwind for us so far. And I can’t say that it has been anything in particular other than not really having a set schedule, recouping from a full year of Kindergarten, continuing work on our house, and various other inparticulars that have been filling up our days.
Whatever it has been though, it has all been so good. The girls are good. I’m happy as a clam. Jim is succeeding at life as is his usual M.O.
I have a bunch of pictures that show what we’ve been up to lately and they all make me so happy, so it’s only appropriate that they ended up here eventually!
Our lazy Saturday mornings have been in full swing over here. We always make a big breakfast(or get donuts!), drink coffee, play, color, and get started on our projects for the day. I absolutely love it.
This outfit is everything. That is all.
Mabel got to experience the awe and wonder of the Home Depot driving carts recently. It totally ROCKED her world. She legit thought she was driving around the store and it was the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
Of course, the fit that she threw in the parking lot when I had to take her out of it was not the cutest thing I’ve ever seen.
Oh twinning sister swimsuits. I am beyond obsessed.
We’ve been spending a lot of time at friend’s pools and the splash pad this summer. It has been so much fun, but one thing is certain, we can not WAIT for our beach vacay at the end of summer!
I actually got to have a girl’s night out a few weeks ago and it.was.amazing. We went to Old Chicago for drinks and pizza(does it get any better than that? No.) and I had my instagram husband snap a pic of me before I left.
This picture looks really sweet, but Mabel was actually having some…..bowel problems. Poor miss. I never dealt with this particular issue with Abigail, so I’m in a bit of uncharted territory over here(what’s new). We’ve been giving her pear juice and that seems to have fixed most of the problem- thank goodness!
This picture IS really sweet! We went to an all day practicum to learn about the homeschooling we will be doing this upcoming school year. It was such a long day for the Mabes, so we spent most of the time in the soundproofed mother’s nursing room at the back of the sanctuary. She fell asleep in the carrier and slept for well over an hour. It was beyond precious!
The trips to Target have been regular and frequent. Much to the dismay of Jim and our monthly budget- but with wide aisles, cool seated carts, and a Starbucks inside- how can we stay away?
And how could we ever resist a photo inside the giant red circle?
Dinner clean up crew.
Always at the ankles.
Pretty much the only thing that gets Mabel to stand is this water table. She LOVES it. And will play at it endlessly. And will repeatedly dump all of the water out of that red cup onto herself as she tries to drink it. And bangs on the sun room door signing more all day long pointing to her water table out in the backyard so that I know how much she wants to go play with it.
Big Sister. Little Sister.
Where’s this swimsuit in the Mom size?
But really, this night was a giant swimming fail. We got the girls ready and to the pool only to find out that it was closed for a swim meet the next day. And that all of the other pools in town had already closed. And then all of the roads on the way to our splash pad were randomly closed that night…and so we just called it quits and went home to have a Finding Nemo theater night in our living room.
That ended up being pretty awesome anyway.
We went to a birthday party last weekend and Mabel did her signature scoot down the slip n slide and it was AWESOME. So, so funny. So now I know that I have to get our slip n slide set up down the hill in our backyard so that I can get it on video. Priceless.
Jim is currently in England, but before he left my Mom arrived and was able to watch the girls so that we could go on a date night! I’m pretty sure our last date night was my birthday last September, so this was very much needed and very much enjoyed. SO much food, so many drinks, so much fun. Love that guy.
Mabel got this cute little rocking chair for her birthday and she loves sitting in it! It is adorable watching her sit and read her books like such a big girl. Love it.
My Mom is the best Grammy in the world and my girls just adore her. So precious.
So far summer has us basically feeling like this. Relaxed…or tired? I say both.
We’re loving getting to do whatever we want whenever we want. We love our days filled with playing and exploring. We’re loving figuring out our ever changing family dynamic, preparing for the upcoming school year, our upcoming vacation, and our upcoming house projects too!
And I look forward to sharing all of those things here as they happen!
