This post was supposed to be posted yesterday, but do you know what happened instead? The Walking Dead season premiere happened.
So enjoy reading about our weekend, on a Tuesday, folks.
Let me back this train up to last Thursday.
It had been way, way, way too long since I had seen my BFF and her babies, so the girls and I took a little day trip up for a quick visit.
It takes less than two hours to get there AND there is a Starbucks on the way, so it’s totally a doable trip for us. The girls did great and we had a wonderful time. I would have loved to catch up and visit with Lauren more face to face, but 4 kids under 5 didn’t really allow for much of that.
I guess we’ll have to save it for our next phone conversation!
I always give Lauren a hard time whenever I’m at her house because her main level has THEE most amazing light that streams in. And I always tell her, Lauren, bloggers spend big big bucks and lots of time and energy trying to recreate editing that you get for cheap and easy! (You can see two of the baby shower’s that I have thrown in her house here & here)
They have this cute little Frozen car toy thing that Mabel was 1000% in love with. I think she played with it almost the entire time we were there!
We played and played, ate Pizza Hut lunch buffet, and then drove back home during nap time!
Before we left, we got some pictures of all four girls together…and then asked Abigail if she would take a picture of just the two of us. We both happened to be holding our babies, so I said, “I guess it will be a Mom and baby picture!” But Brecken then decided she wanted to be in the picture too.
So this is what Abigail took.
She turned the phone so that it would crop Brecken out! Lauren and I laughed so hard and so long we were crying.
This was literally the only photo she took. Just the one. SO funny.
Once we got home, we had a little time to play before Jim got home from work. But once he did we headed out to Joplin’s last Third Thursday of the year! I’ve written about Third Thursday a number of times- we love it!
We usually eat dinner before we go but this time we opted to grab some dinner downtown. They had a chick fil a tent set up, so we grabbed some sandwiches and ate them together in a nearby park!
I tried to grab a picture of the girls before it got completely dark outside, and just happened to capture this picture with all four of us in it! Super cool(I think!)
We stopped at our favorite little bakery(Frosted Cakerie, for the locals!) and had some cookies and cupcakes before heading home to put littles to bed.
THEN on Friday, after Jim got home from work, he took Abigail to his parent’s lakehouse for the weekend.
Meanwhile, Mabel and I had some solo time together Friday and Saturday 🙂
We spent Saturday morning watching TV together and then after we got ready we ran errands! (the briefest of shout outs to how much easier it is to run errands with one kid instead of two!)
Unless, of course, you forget your stroller at home. But, it ended up providing us with some good behavioral training opportunities 😉
Honestly though, she was the SWEETEST little errand partner. We went to a number of different places and she was a champ. I rarely, rarely get solo time with either of my girls, so it was really special to get to have that with Mabel. And I think she loved it too!
Once we got home from errands and ate dinner, we went for a walk and played and played outside enjoying the beautiful weather together!
Jim and Abigail got home late on Saturday night and we were able to spend a wonderful Sunday at church together the next morning. I managed to not take a single picture of us on Sunday, but we napped, cleaned the garage, played, and had a good day preparing for the week ahead!
