Jim’s birthday is rapidly approaching in a few days, so I thought it would be fun to try out Stitch Fix For Men as his birthday present!
I hadn’t planned on blogging about this, but we needed some opinions on one of the items he received(more to come on that later in this post!) and the biggest feedback I ended up getting was, “they have Stitch Fix For Men!?” So I thought I should go ahead and share how Jim’s first experience with Stitch Fix was!
After I read this note I HAD to message my stylist, NICOLE M and ask her if she had happened to style Jim’s box?! Because how hilarious would that have been! She let me know that she doesn’t style the men’s boxes, but we both had a good laugh over how Jim and I had the same stylist name- even though they ended up being different people!
Here is everything he got in this box!
When I saw that they had sent Jim a pair of “slim leg” jeans I knew that he was going to freak out on me.
Which he did 😉
We went round and round and round over these pants. They are a completely different cut than anything he has ever worn before and he was freaking out on me that if he kept them that he would instantly turn into a hipster.
We had some of the most hilarious conversation back and forth over these pants and ultimately ended up having to take it to snapchat for a vote over how they looked.
Not surprisingly at all, everyone said that they looked great! And that he should keep them! And he would reply, “do they wear Zooey Deschanel glasses?” because he couldn’t get the terror of looking like a hipster out of his mind.
I ended up pulling up Pinterest, typing in “Men’s Jeans” and scrolling down the first few images. It went something like this:
“Is he wearing straight leg jeans” yes. “Is he a hipster?” no. Rinse and repeat about 10x.
The next day he messaged me from work that he had watched my snapchat story and that he hated to admit it….but those jeans actually looked really good!
Unfortunately, they were too big in the waist and a little too long. Since they were $90 jeans, he opted not to try and exchange them in case the sizing didn’t work. Bummer!
Oh- and the red plaid was just meh. It fit well and we would have kept it for a discount if everything else had worked out. But it didn’t, so back it went.
Two more great items came in this box! Chinos for work and church and another patterned button down.
I can’t remember the reasons he gave for not wanting to keep these items(turns out, he’s pickier than I am!), but they were both returned.
I seriously loved this blazer. He doesn’t have ANYthing like this in his closet. I loved the color and the fabric and the style of it. But, apparently, it was too long in the length of the sleeves? I don’t know. I hardly know anything about men’s fashion- they looked fine to me. But according to Jim they were too long in the arms- so it had to be returned.
SO ultimately, it was a 0/5 for his first Stitch Fix For Men box. Not because he didn’t love the items, they just didn’t *quite* fit or work right for what he was needing right now.
But! He loved the service just as much as I do! He loved trying new pieces that he NEVER would have tried on his own(looking at you slim cut jeans) and he loved reading the style card to get ideas for how to style the items as well.
He enjoyed his first box so much, he already has a 2nd box scheduled for the beginning of January! Hooray! So, cheers to a new year and a hopefully much improved closet for The Husband thanks to the help of Stitch Fix.
