Happy Friday! It has been another whirlwind week for us in the Spena household, so we are incredibly ready to get to KC for the weekend and enjoy a little R&R with our family!
I have a few fun and random things to share today including some home improvement sneak peeks! Check it out 🙂
This picture is totally random, but so sweet. We have these big hedges in our front yard that has the perfect little cut out/pass through for little girls to play in. Mabel will run the loop over and over and all I can think about is how much I would have loved that when I was little! Total secret garden status.
I’ve mentioned some that Jim was working on home improvements while we were away in Phoenix, and while they’re all still unfinished, he made great headway into all of the projects and I can’t wait to see them all totally completed!
So, with that being said, here is a picture of some of the progress in Finn’s room-
(You can see the inspiration for Finn’s nursery in this post)
I had asked for advice on my Instagram stories about whether we should go with 6 in or 8 in wide planks on the walls and we ultimately decided to go with the 6 in pieces! I’m really happy with it and love the raw wood look of the accent wall.
Jim has also painted the walls white since this photo and installed the new lighting!
We still have a ways to go- he is going to build a sliding barn door for his closet, needs to paint the crib, hang wall art, and install a light fixture that we are waiting to come back in stock- but THEN it’ll be ready for baby! Eek!
And then there is our amazing dining room update!
(You can see what it used to look like in this post) While we were away Jim refinished the top of the table, pulled down all of the painted wallpaper(including on the ceiling), added 4 recessed lights, and the three pendants, and added shiplap to all of the walls…and then painted it.
Now that the bones of this room are mostly finished, primarily what I need to do is style this room. But I’m kind of unsure about what to do with it! A case of too many good options.
I think we’ll hang our curtains back up, but I’m unsure. I think we’ll hang our previous wall art back up, but I’m unsure. I think I’d like to find some new chairs, but I’m unsure. I think we might paint the big black buffet, but I’m unsure. He ended up moving the table to be centered under the lights, so now we have room for a big furniture piece in the back right corner, but I’m unsure of what I want. We’ve also talked about building chunky wood floating shelves to put over the buffet, and I’m definitely sure I want to do that….but unsure of when we’ll finally get around to doing it. ha!
We also still need to finish the last little inch or so space of shiplap at the bottom of the wall and possibly paint our trim. It matches surprisingly well, but it is pretty dinged up from years of use, so it could stand to be spruced up a bit.
In other news, the girls and I had dentist check up’s this week. Mabel fell asleep in the car on the way over(a product of switching to her big girl bed…more on that later, lol) and I thought the stroller was in the back of the van…it wasn’t. I was fully expecting the entire thing to be a giant circus, but it ended up being kind of the best thing ever!
Abigail got her teeth cleaned at the same time as me(when did she get so big?!) and Mabel just sat nicely in a chair and ate goldfish and watched T.V. while I got mine done. THEN, she let the dentist check out her teeth AND let the hygienist polish them.
Seriously, I was blown away by how amazing both girls did. Total proud mama moment for sure!
A few last things:
If you’ve been wanting to try out these pouches, click here to get a $3 off coupon(the mobile coupon is finally working again- yay!)
I found this book recently and totally want to get it for the girls! We say little phrases like these to each other ALL the time, so I think they would love reading this.
So, I’ve been thinking about doing maternity photos this time around. I have never done them before- if you did them, are you glad you have them? If you didn’t, do you wish you did? If you did, what week were you when you had them taken? I’m pondering sometime in August- so that I have time to get a dress(I’m thinking something like this)! I kind of love the idea of them, but I’m also a little unsure. What do you think?
Anyway, that’s all I’ve got for today. See you back here next week! Have a great weekend!
